In one of our many emails Bibiana made a really beautiful and interesting point, quoted below:
I have a theory: I think music and art in general, especially the fine arts, are the "soft underbelly" of the modernist monster we are fighting...the modernists have not been able to compete with the art of the Catholic past, so this is where We (the new generation of artists and musicians) can conquer the beast!Inspired, I wrote the following war-song for us. Bibiana, dubbing it the Antimodérniste, has promised music!! So we have a new jam-sessioners' anthem.... "Coming this August... only in St. Louis!" (in movie-preview tone). :)

Christ set up His Church on a Rock firm and strong,
And Hell's gates will never against it prevail;
The Ship of St. Peter sails bravely along,
Though tossed by the breakers and bent by the gale.
The modernist monster, a sea-serpent sly,
Attempts to engulf her in waves of deceit;
But we her brave sailors stand watchfully by;
With Christ at the helm, every foe we'll defeat!
Our foemen with vigor and lies do assault,
To banish the glory we held for so long;
But we can defeat them, we'll never default;
We'll beat them with beauty and smash them with song.
They drag down to earth those who strain for the skies
And turn to grey shadows the bright and the clear;
Their weapons are foulness and malice and lies;
Then fight them with that which they know not, and fear.
They fear what they know not -- the true and the fair;
Let those be our weapons, our beauty and truth,
With sword and with word, and with war-song and prayer,
The modernist monster will flee from our youth!
With art and with music, with grace on our side,
We'll battle our foes till they flee from the plain;
And then we'll pour out Palestrina with pride,
And Vittoria we'll sing-- and vittoria we'll gain!

I proudly present : My Music page on ... Antimodernism (found you through Liber Parma)
It has the ring of a national anthem, or perhaps the Catholic international anthem! My, I was surprised to learn that you have five blogs. Good for you; one's enough for me.
Bibiana has a good point. A strong Catholic fine arts movement would be effective in winning the elite back to the Faith from secularism. I don't know what it's like at Webster, but at Assumption all the professors love to poke fun at popular music (sometimes to my dismay), except for this one funny guy who requests that all his students get the Doors ringtones.
Good luck at Webster. I have a difficult enough time at Assumption, which is (still) a Catholic school.
Thank you, Crusader! An international Catholic anthem... well, that was Bibi's idea, thence the title! Well, the blogs are not all mine; one is the family blog and one is our cousins', and one is for the teachers at our school. The Steel Lily isn't mine alone, as you may have seen, and this one is self-explanatory. :)
Popular music, as in folk music -- the true music of the people?
Hans -- nice page.Liber Parma? It doesn't ring a bell...
Liber Parma
glad you like my music, Agnes Regina
hope someone plays it soon in public, I try to live by composing
as I stated - if you read French - not everyone who uses my music is required to pay me, but if you were to, like earn money for an outing meeting other homeschoolers or so, and send a MID file or two or so, that I could publish on the page (you may add account nr to yourselves or a charity if you like), it might make me better known and respected as a composer
As I was just saying about modernism, it is not too bright on the scientific score either. New blog adress: http://hglundahlsblog.blogspot.com, with a new blog dedicated to antidarwinism questions with index page at short url http://o-x.fr/lsf.
As you know, the music page went down with MSN Groups, but compositions (with some new more) are at index http://o-x.fr/z5k.
Finally, modern culture is not all ugly and wrong and Antichristian. What about The Rose?
